Education Projects

Education is at the core of PRIDE’s mission and all of its projects serve the goal of furthering educational opportunities for children in rural and underserved school villages. Thus the construction, improvement and repairs to school buildings along with providing school supplies are some of the direct ways PRIDE uses donor funds to achieve its goals.

Classroom Improvements:

PRIDE’s classroom projects that have a immediate and direct impact on student learning vary from large physical and structural projects to small but highly effective improvements.

For example, it is easy to replace thatched classroom roofs with translucent roof panels that allow natural light to brighten a classroom that was previously dark.

Libraries, Playgrounds and Teacher Housing:

Schools are the epicenter of the villages. Thus, enhancing the school environment including critical resource centers like onsite libraries, playgrounds, and adequate housing for teachers are all as important as the classroom itself.

Even the most well-constructed classrooms will not reach their full potential if there is inadequate housing for teachers.

School Supplies and More:

The school communities in which PRIDE works are underserved on many levels, especially when it comes to supplies that assist teachers in their daily lessons. These schools often lack basic fixtures like desks and chairs as well as books, writing utensils, and paper.

PRIDE works with local educators and community members to assess and prioritize the need for the infrastructure, supplies and equipment to create a teaching environment matching the needs of the community.
